Abstract

Abstract Dry grinding of Andosols resulted in an initial increase and subsequent decrease, in some cases, of the P retention capacity and pH(KF) values, along with changes in the amount of P extracted by Bray's 2nd method from Andosols with the addition of P. These phenomena were ascribed to the increase of the amount of active OH groups caused by structural destruction during grinding for a short period of time and decrease associated with reaggregation upon prolonged grinding. The formation of P-bearing substances by dry grinding of Andosols was assumed based on a comparison of the decrease of the amount of P extracted with Bray's 2nd solution from Andosols to which P had been added before and after grinding.
