Abstract

To clarify qualitative effects of interfacial slip along boundaries of grains, segments etc. on seismic wave propagation in real geomaterials, we consider a model problem of longitudinal wave motion in two rods pressed to each other. It is shown that dry friction affects not only the shape of a pulse but the velocity of propagation of the leading front as well.
