Abstract
A detailed analysis of the direct-interaction key role in the deuteron-induced reactions on target nuclei from Al to U has been carried out. Particular comments concern the main importance of the deuteron breakup mechanism in the deuteron interaction with heavy target nuclei at incident energies around Coulomb barrier.
