Abstract

Summary Two trials were conducted to investigate the effects of dietary levels of β-glucans and α-mannans in the form of Alphamune on productive performance in broiler chicken raised in normal or thermal-stressed circumstances. In Trial 1, 1,000 one-day-old mixed sex Ross broiler chicks were fed on grower (1 to 21 d) and finisher (22 to 49 d) corn soybean based diets supplemented with 0, 0.5, 0.75, 1 or 1.25Â g/kg Alphamune. In Trial 2 (a 2×3 factorial experiment), 400 one-day-old chicks were used to evaluate the effects of 0, 1 and 2Â g/kg dietary Alphamune on conventional economic parameters in cold or heat stressed broiler chicken up to day 49 of age.
