Abstract

An experimental study has been done on how the rigidity and menial parameters of design inhomogeneities affect the dynamic deformation in a spherical shell on account of an explosion at the center in a spherical charge of condensed explosive. The dynamic response in particular includes a cyclic increase in the oscillation amplitude (pumping effect), but it is substantially dependent on the size and mass of the design inhomogeneities. Assumptions made by others on the pumping mechanisms in theoretical studies are confirmed.
