Abstract
We have examined the effect of gonadal suppression by Cyproterone acetate and LH-RH analog on growth velocity and bone maturation in patients with precocious puberty and isolated GH deficiency.Subjects were divided into five groups (Table). Bone age (BA), height age (HA) and height velocity (HV) were measured before and after 1 year of the therapy. After one year of the therapy, there was a significant decrease in the mean HV of group I-C (p<0.01). δBA/δCA ratio also decreased in groups I-A, I-C, II-A and II-B (p<0.05). δHA/δBA ratio significantly increased in group I-A (0.63±0.23 to 1.29±0.37, p<0.01) and group II-B (0.73±0.35 to 1.2±0.28, p<0.01).These results suggest that predicted adult height based on ±δHA/±δBA ratio is increased by CA and Buserelin +GH, but possibly not by TAP because of the marked decrease in HV. Combination of GH with TAP may be effective on final height in patients with precocious puberty.
