Abstract

Two experiments were conducted to test effects of single doses of cyclophosphamide (CPA) on semen quality and fertility in rams. Doses of 25 or 30 mg CPA/kg had no effects on semen traits or fertility. A dose of 40 mg CPA/kg body weight reduced sperm cell concentration and decreased percent motility in ejaculates taken during weeks 6 and 7 post treatment, increased percent abnormal cells during week 7 and tended to reduce fertility in rams mated to an average of nine ewes each on days 46 to 49 post treatment.
