Abstract

Abstract Ni/SBA-15 catalysts were prepared by two different methods; conventional impregnation method (Ni/SBA-15) and β-cyclodextrin (CD) modified impregnation method (Ni/SBA-15-CD). The physicochemical properties and the catalytic performance of the catalysts in carbon dioxide reforming of methane (CRM) were compared. Results showed that Ni particles were smaller and better dispersed on Ni/SBA-15-CD, and the interactions between Ni and SBA-15 were stronger. Compared with Ni/SBA-15, Ni/SBA-15-CD exhibited higher catalytic activity and stability in CRM. Post-reaction analysis revealed that CD was effective indirectly in resisting carbon deposition and maintaining the ordered structure of Ni/SBA-15-CD.
