Abstract

The author interviewed matched groups of college women to study the effects on women of coresidential dormitory life. As compared to those in all-women's dormitories, women in the coresidential setting were found to have more satisfying relationships with both men and women, higher self-esteem, conceptions of masculinity and femininity that were less stereotyped, and more egalitarian role expectations.
