Abstract

Objective To explore the effect of conscious sedation with midazolam and remifentanil combined with dexmedetomidine in fiberoptic bronchoscopy. Methods Sixty patients undergoing fiberoptic bronchoscopy under conscious sedation were randomized into group A and group B, 30 cases in each group. The patients in group A received conscious sedation with midazolam and remifentanil combined with dexmedetomidine, and group B received conscious sedation with midazolam combined with remifentanil only. MAP, HR and SpO2 including pre-operation, intra-operation (when bronchoscope passed the glottis point) and two minutes after operation were recorded. The patients' amnesia state and the awareness during operation and satisfaction degree were investigated. Results During operation, the MAP and HR in group A were significantly better than those in group B and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05) ; the sedation effect and satisfaction degree in group A were significantly better than those in group B and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05) . Conclusion Conscious sedation with midazolam and remifentanil combined with dexmedetomidine for fiberoptic bronchoscopy is a safe and effective method. Key words: Bronchoscopy; Midazolam; Piperidines; Dexmedetomidine; Conscious sedation
