Abstract A proper amount of water was found to enhance significantly the catalytic activity of Ni(PPh3)2Cl2–Amine-NaBH4 for the dimerization of isoprene. The principal products were linear dienes with n-propylamine, and cyclic ones with pyridine and its derivatives, respectively, but almost independent on the amount of water.
