Abstract

It has been found that prices move procyclically in some industries and countercyclically in others. Empirical research has documented that prices in an industry are likely to move countercyclically when concentration is high and procyclically when concentration is low. I explain these findings by introducing capacity constraints found in the model of Rotemberg and Saloner. JEL Classification Number: L13.
