Abstract

Objective To explore the effects of BIODEX training system on walking ability in stroke patients with hemiplegia. Methods 56 cases of stroke with hemiplegia were randomly assigned into treatment group and control group. All 56 patients had received the same conventional rehabilitation treatment. The control group (28 cases) was treated with balance traditional training. The treatment group (28 cases) used BIODEX training.Clinical assessment was assessed by the lower limber motor function(Fugl-Meyer scale),Berg balance scale(BBS),Functional Ambulation Category (FAC),and Biodex balance function before and after treatment. Results Compared with pre-training,both groups had significant improvement on the lower motor function (Fugl-Meyer),walking FAC and balance BBS (P<0.01).Compared with control group, treatment group had significantly greater improvement on each scale (P<0.05).Conclusion BIODEX training in combination with normal rehabilitation therapy may be more advantageous for improving balance and walking ability of stroke patients with hemiplegia.
