Abstract

Objective To investigate the effects of atorvastatin combined with bayaspirin on carotid artery plaque in patients with ischemic stroke. Methods Ninety patients with ischemic stroke from July 2014 to July 2015 were randomly divided into two groups, with 45 cases in each group. Control group took bayaspirin and observation group was given atorvastatin combined with bayaspirin. The changes of carotid artery plaque of two groups before and after treatment were compared. Results There was no significant difference in the character and area of carotid artery plaque between the two groups (P>0.05); After treatment, the proportion of unstable plaque of observation group was significantly lower than that of control group, and plaque area was significantly smaller than that of control group (P<0.05). Conclusions Atorvastatin combined with bayaspirin for patients with ischemic stroke has significant efficacy, and it can effectively stabilize carotid artery plaque and decrease plaque area, which is worthy of generalization. Key words: Atorvastatin; Bayaspirin; Ischemic stroke; Carotid artery plaque
