Abstract

Mast cell degranulation, with its release of histamine and other bioreactive compounds, has been strongly implicated in the acute symptoms noted in mill workers following inspiration of cotton or flax textile dusts. This paper describes a method for the isolation and stimulation of these cells and methods for the quantitation of their degranulation.
