Abstract
AbstractThe form of the anisotropic spin–orbit interaction Hamiltonian for d ions in a trigonal crystal field is discussed, and the independent parameters are classified using the symmetry reduction formalism. In the case of d2 configuration, the spherical, cubic, and two trigonal parameters can be determined assuming the experimentally known energy level structure of three cubic triplets 3P̃T1, F̃T1, and 3FT2.
