Abstract

Amantadine induced a low intensity stereotyped behaviour response when administered to rats. Apomorphine and d-amphetamine produced a high intensity stereotyped behaviour response. However, when administered concurrently with either apomorphine or d-amphetamine amantadine antagonised the stereotyped behaviour. 1-Dopa was not able to induce stereotyped behaviour in rats but this drug also antagonised apomorphine and d-amphetamine. The possible mode of action of amantadine is discussed.
