Abstract

Defects produced by alpha (He + beam) and gamma irradiation in gypsum and barite were studied by electron spin resonance. SO 3 − at g = 2.004 in gamma-irradiated synthetic gypsum was selectively detected using electron spin echo. A total dose of 1.4 kGy was obtained from the dose-dependence of the phase relaxation time of hole-type centers ( g = 2.019, 2.013 and 2.01) in barite desert rose.
