Abstract

Diffusion and mobility of three types of particles (active particles, polar particles and nematic particles) are investigated in a two-dimensional tilted periodic potential. It is found that the alignment interaction can strongly affect the diffusion and mobility. Interestingly, the diffusion of active particles is larger than that of polar particles but smaller than that of nematic particles. In addition, the alignment interaction can strongly reduce the overall mobility of particles.
