Abstract

In this study, the effect of Alcaligenes sp. on the corrosion inhibition of sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) was evaluated and the mechanism was discussed from the aspects of Alcaligenes sp. metabolites, transform sulfide ability and the effect of corrosion product films. Alcaligenes sp. converted sulfides produced by SRB to S2O32-, which accumulated and converted to SO42-. The antimicrobial substances produced by Alcaligenes sp. inhibited the growth of SRB. The protein/polysaccharide had a certain corrosion inhibition effect and the corrosion product film was denser and more continuous. The combined effects of multiple factors inhibited the corrosion induced by SRB.
