Abstract

This study was performed to determine the optimal combination of admixtures and accelerators to develop concrete strength (5 MPa) for horizontal form removal upon curing at 10 °C. We used single and mixed chemical admixtures and accelerators considering the unit cement quantity; the slump, air content, and compressive strength were evaluated. The effects of admixtures and accelerators on concrete strength were as follows: Ad < PC < ePC-A < ePC-B < CaBr2 + DEA (C4H11NO2) < CaBr2 + NaSCN + DEA. For cement contents of 330 kg/m3 or higher, CaBr2 + NaSCN + DEA improved early strength development upon curing at 10 °C, reaching 5 MPa after 24 h.
