Abstract

Sarmazenil (Ro 15-3505), an imidazobenzodiazepine derivative that has been shown to improve cognitive function, was shown to lower serum lipid levels in rats with Triton WR-1339—induced hyperlipidemia. Its effects on serum lipids were similar to the effects of flumazenil. It appears that the different behavioral effects seen with different benzodiazepines do not interfere with their actions on lipid metabolism.
