Abstract

An infinite strip confocal resonator, filled with a saturable-absorption gas, is assumed to be illuminated by a field at the frequency of the maximum of the spectral line. The field distribution across the mirrors, the eigenvalue and the internal field of the fundamental mode are evaluated for several values of the amplitude of the impinging field. The main result is that the non-linearity of the medium affects the transverse phase distributions of the field and the longitudinal amplitude distribution, but not the transverse distributions.
