Abstract

Rationale: Citrus fruits contain many nutrients and have been eaten for a health-promoting diet. The immature dried fruits of Citrus aurantium var. daidai, C. aurantium, and C. natsudaidai have also been used in several formulae of Japanese herbal (Kampo) medicines to treat liver diseases. Here we investigated the efficacy of crude fractions from a Citrus fruit extract by monitoring the production of nitric oxide (NO), an inflammatory mediator, in rat hepatocytes.
