Abstract

Brass was treated after 4GPa high pressure heat treatment at 700°C insulated for 15min, and the effects of 4GPa high pressure heat treatment on micro-mechanical properties of the brass were discussed by optical microscope, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscope and nanoindenter. The results showed that 4GPa high pressure heat treatment could increase the hardness, elastic modulus and elastic recovery coefficient, and decrease its friction coefficient. They were attributed to the microstructure of brass that became finer and more uniform compact after 4GPa high pressure heat treatment. [doi:10.2320/matertrans.M2013446]
