Abstract

Effects of twenty five species of 2-aminoethylisothiuronium (AET) derivatives on the phosphate controlled respiration of rat liver mitochondria were studied using oxygen electrode apparatus. Among these compounds, 2-aminoethyl-N'-p-chlorophenylisothiuronium bromide hydrobromide is the most potent inhibitor. The inhibitory site might be located in the electron transport system of mitochondria. The inhibitory action was confirmed by manometric method.
