Abstract
It is reexamined how the threshold pion-photoproduction operators are modified in the nucleus in the σ-ω model. Effects of N N pair excitations through ω-meson exchange are found to be comparable and opposite in sign to those of a small nucleon effective mass in the nuclear medium due to σ-meson exchange.
