Abstract

The effects of radiation from a flash X ray machine on an optical waveguide formed in LiTaO/sub 3/ are described. Transient induced losses are accompanied by effects of an electric field generated by the radiation. At low temperatures, radiation-induced photorefraction dominates the response. >
