Abstract
• Photosensitizer hematoporphyrin derivative demonstrated disinfection similar to chemical disinfection using glutaraldehyde and NaOCl. • Methylene blue and rose Bengal as photosensitizer activated bt PDT showed disinfection against specific bacteria. • An overall decrease in the bacterial count was noted among all photosensitizers and chemical disinfecting agents.
