Abstract

Electric vehicles are now going to becoming the growing means of transportation of the future generations. With respect to BS-VI norms, the automotive manufacturers shedding more interest towards developing better battery management system. The h eat dissipation in the battery system is to be optimized, which in turn develop the thermal management system to support the green environment. Very predominant problem faced in electric vehicles is the heat generation that is caused due to charging and discharging of the battery, which reduces the battery life and increases the charging duration. The objective in this work is to propose a methodology to reduce the heat generation during the discharging of the battery for electric vehicles. A modified design and modeling of battery management system is proposed to optimize the heat generation. From the proposed model, the experiments were conducted using Ansys, which shows appreciable improvement in reduction of heat generation.
