Abstract

Salt gradient solar pond consists of salty water in which the salt concentration varies from bottom to top. In that membrane stratified solar pond are fluid bodies where the three zones, such as the upper convective, non-convective, lower convective, and are separated by a narrowly spaced crystal clear membrane to reduce convective heat transfer from the bottom to the top of the pond. The membranes used in this research are a 4 mm thick horizontal glass and the salinity profile is preserved by adding sodium chloride solution to illuminate the thermal efficiency of solar pond, membrane stratification is done. In fact, thermal performance is similar to that of salt gradient solar ponds, but much deeper layers of heat storage are viable.
