Abstract
A person’s face being a visible element, instant physical care and mental support is mandatory for patients affected with maxillofacial defects. Defects in noticeable locations like the ear create a lacuna which deteriorates the quality of life of the victims. Immediate restoration of the defect with artificial prosthesis becomes crucial. Two such cases of acquired auricular defects rehabilitated with maxillofacial prosthesis are described in this manuscript. This case report briefs about two patients with auricular defects reported for restoration. Case one had a congenital agenesis of his right ear whereas case two presented with a history of trauma. Immediate management with artificial ear prosthesis was decided to restore the patients to normalcy of life. Hence an effective restoration was carried out using maxillofacial auricular prosthesis made from medical grade silicone and acrylic. They were retained onto to the residual external structures.
