Abstract

In this paper, we propose the effective playback scheme of targeted AD (ADvertisement) contents exploiting digital cueing signal over IPTV (Internet Protocol TeleVision) service. In the proposed scheme, the digital cueing signal multiplexed with the watching live IPTV program contents enables a STB (Set-Top Box) device to identify AD playback section accurately. For eliminating playback delay of pre-downloaded AD contents during AD playback section, a STB device then adjusts their MPEG (Moving Picture Experts Group)-2 TS (Transport Stream) attributes of pre-downloaded AD contents. Test results demonstrate that the proposed scheme works greatly over commercial IPTV network.
