Abstract

I review the status of effective field theory in nuclear physics. After a brief introduction to QCD, I present the pionless effective field theory that describes very low-energy multi-nucleon processes. Recent developments in our understanding of the effective field theory appropriate for momenta above the pion mass are discussed. Finally, the role that effective field theory will play in connecting lattice calculations with nature is outlined.
