Abstract

Dynamic channel assignment is an effective approach to decrease inter-cell interference and improve link quality. Due to flat beam coverage property, link performance is degraded if conventional dynamic channel assignment schemes are directly employed in satellite network. To solve this problem, this study proposes the beam cooperation based dynamic channel assignment scheme, in which adjacent beams serve edge users cooperatively. Feature of feed sharing, channel model of satellite network, number of cooperative beams and combination method of the receiver are discussed in the proposed scheme. In addition, link quality restriction is applied to avoid drastically performance degradation in case of heavy traffic. Simulation results show that the proposed dynamic channel assignment scheme can effectively improve the average performance of users in the beam. Furthermore, the optimal antenna parameter for the proposed scheme is achieved by simulation.
