Abstract
A new semianalytical method, which is a combination of thedensity functional theory with Rosenfeld density functional andthe Ornstein–Zernike equation, is proposed for the calculationof the effective depletion potentials between a pair of bigspheres immersed in a small hard sphere fluid. The calculatedresults are almost identical to the integral equation method withthe Percus–Yevick approximation, and are also in agreement well with theMonte Carlo simulation results.
