Abstract

A convenient phenomenological scheme for obtaining a class of thermodynamically self-consistent nuclear equations of state is presented. The model is motivated by plausible microscopic arguments and its main ingredient is the concept of effective particle density. The hadronic phase exhibits a high temperature phase transition to the deconfined phase even for vanishing baryon number density.
