Abstract

Among various types of Wind Turbine Generators(WTGs), Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator(PMSG) based standalone Wind Turbine (WT) has a few points of interest which make it exceptionally useful for Wind Energy Conversion Systems (WECs). As wind speed and the consumer load vary, WECs require a power electronic converter interface. This paper mainly focuses on effective control coordination among the WTG, battery controller and power electronics converters control for varying wind speed conditions and load conditions. The proposed system is modelled and simulated using MATLAB/SIMULINK environment. The objective of the proposed control strategy is such as the derivation of Maximum Power from the WTGs, maintaining Constant DC link voltage during dynamic wind speed and load conditions and is well suited for improving the PMSG based WECs efficiency. Hardware implementation of the scaled down model of the proposed system is developed.
