Abstract

The effect of glass addition on the properties of CaCu3Ti4O12 (CCTO) electroceramics was studied. CCTO and ZnO-B2O3-SiO2 (ZBS) glass additive were prepared using solid state reaction and melt quench techniques respectively. Both the raw materials of CCTO and ZBS were wet mixed separately for 24 h, dried overnight and afterward the CCTO powder was calcined at 900 ˚C for 12 h. Meanwhile the ZBS powders was melted at 1400 ˚C for 2 h. The ZBS glass was grinded to form a fine powder. Different weight percentages (wt%) of ZBS powder were added into CCTO (CCTO-ZBS), then the powders were wet mixed for 24 h. The CCTO-ZBS mixtures were dried, compacted at 300 MPa and then sintered at 1040 ˚C for 10 h. The addition of ZBS glass was desirable to increase the dielectric constants (33.99%) and reduce the dielectric loss (5.14%) of CCTO at the frequency range of 1 MHz–1 GHz.KeywordsCCTOGlass additionDielectric properties
