Abstract

At present the energy systems are becoming decentralized and more energy is being supplied by distributed energy systems. Among different renewable energy sources, wind and solar are two major promising sources to satisfy the need of electrical energy. In general, these sources are merged with distribution utilities to supply the local distribution customers. The integration of these sources with the power network changes the level of fault and network topologies. Due to this, existing protection schemes may fail to operate. Among the major protection schemes, distance protection schemes are to be considered more reliable among the conventional over current protection. So, the proposed work presents the effect of integration of distributed generation on the distance protection.
