Abstract

Animals exposed to whole-body X-irradiation have been shown to exhibit deranged lipid metabolism (1-6). We previously have reported (7, 8) some preliminary studies on the effect of X-irradiation on lipid metabolism, and these studies have now been extended so that more definite conclusions can be made. The present work was undertaken to investigate the effects of whole-body X-irradiation on phospholipid synthesis in tissue slices and the lipid distribution in the whole organs of rat liver, spleen, and kidney.
