Abstract

A field experiment was carried out during at kharif season of 2012 to access the effect of weed management practices on seed yield and nutrient uptake by crop and weeds in cowpea. Results showed that two hand weedings at 20 and 40 DAS gave significantly higher no. of seeds/plant (11.20), test weight (110.50), seed yield (1016 kg/ha) and net return (Rs. 22954 /ha) as compared to other treatments except pendimethalin@750gm/ha with one hand weeding at 40 DAS and imezathapyr (PoE) @75 gm/ha with one hand weeding at 40 DAS. Weed dry weight and weed index were lowest in two hand weeding at 20 and 40 DAS. Nutrients removed by weeds was highest in weedy check and lowest in two hand weeding treatment plot.
