Abstract
Dredged slurry is composed of a great quantity of fine soil particles, which accumulate around prefabricated vertical drains during vacuum preloading. The addition of hydrated lime as a flocculent can improve the permeability and vane shear strength of dredged slurry. A series of experiments showed that lime exists in the lime modification optimum as a flocculent. This study was aimed at analyzing the relationship between a given amount of lime additive and different water contents according to lime flocculation combined with a vacuum preloading test. For this, parameters, including the pore water pressure, discharged water, post-test water content, and vane shear strength, were monitored. Based on a given amount of lime additive in optimum water content, a function was derived, which could provide theoretical guidance for similar studies in the future.
