Abstract

To alleviate the challenges from the early-age strength shortage of fly ash/cement system, the corn stalk ash, an agricultural waste, was used to expedite the early-age strength development of the fly ash/cement system. The mechanical property was tested and the microstructure was analyzed to understand the hydration mechanism of this system. Besides, the Gibbs Energy Minimization Software (GEMS) was applied to further understand the hydration process. It can be deduced from the results that the corn stalk ash accounted for the increase of the content of the amorphous phase and the reduction of the calcium hydroxide.
