Abstract

SummaryWashing cabbage heads with tap water reduced diazinon residues by 49% to 61% and quinalphos residues by 33% to 43%. Trimming one additional leaf layer from the heads without washing reduced diazinon residues by 25% to 66% and quinalphos residues by 40% to 92%. Residues after both washing and mechanical trimming would be below the tolerance limits of these insecticides within about half of their recommended waiting periods.
