Abstract

AbstractNowadays, researchers started to invest their efforts and ideas in finding out the most economical and efficient method by which magnetic nanoparticles of different sizes can be synthesized. In this paper, the formation of nanoparticles using the arc-discharge is clearly explained. LiCl electrolyte and ER70S-2 electrode were used in the experiment for the formation of magnetic nanoparticles of different sizes based on the requirement. Using this method, magnetic nanoparticles were obtained in good quantity as well as in quality. A very interesting observation was noticed while conducting the experiment, as the voltage applied is altered; the size of the nanoparticles varies continuously. There is an indirect proportionality between size of the nanoparticles and applied voltage. This paper helps to select a particular method by which magnetic nanoparticles of different sizes can be generated by altering the voltage. These obtained nanoparticles were characterized using XRD and particle size analyzer and SEM analysis. Using this analysis, one can come to a conclusion regarding the size, structure and phases obtained of the magnetic nanoparticles using arc-discharge method.KeywordsMagnetic nanoparticlesVoltageXRDSEM
