Abstract

Vitrification is simple and less expensive than slow freezing method for cryopreservation as it does not cause intracellular ice crystal formation. Recent studies have shown that 1) mouse preantral follicles can be vitrified and that some of the oocytes originating from vitrified preantral follicle can grow and develop to live pups after maturation, and that 2) mouse preantral follicles, after isolation from cryopreserved ovarian tissue, can be grown to antral follicles and produce mature oocytes.
