Abstract

AbstractThe free‐radical induced polymerization of a series of acrylic and methacrylic esters of substituted undecanol has been investigated. The effect of various substituents in the chain of undecyl acrylate and undecyl methacrylate on their rates of polymerization has been generalized. The functional groups produce a retarding effect in the order C6H5 > I > Br > Cl > OCH3.
