Abstract
The solution of basic multicomponent distillation problems has been widely studied and many algorithms with a sound theoretical basis are available. Nevertheless, quantitative data from multicomponent systems which include schemes such as pump-arounds, inter-reboilers, inter-coolers or combinations of these are scarce and in such cases extrapolated from binary systems. A study of the effects of the various schemes mentioned when applied to a distillation column treating a mixture of six BTX aromatics is presented.
