Abstract

A study was conducted to evaluate the effect of varied levels of dietary crude protein and metabolizable energy on production performance between 28 to 43 weeks in Giriraja parent birds. A total of 288 Giriraja birds of 20 weeks age were assigned to nine treatment groups with four replicates in each group and having eight birds in each replicate (32 birds per treatment). Nine different experimental diets were formulated with three levels of energy, viz., 2700, 2800, and 2900 kcal metabolizable energy (ME/kg), each with three levels of crude protein (CP), viz., 15%, 16%, and 17%, respectively and Group T5 served as control fed with 16% protein and 2800 kcal energy as per BIS (2007) requirements.
